Four
Little man made it to the big 4-months-old on the 18th. We celebrated in true mommy fashion with a photo shoot...
Jackson was such a little ham! He is holding his head up on his own so well now and I bet it won't be long before he is sitting up on his own (without being propped up against something.) Four months has been great for milestones: rolling over, sleeping in the crib by himself all night, grabbing toys and his toes, pushing himself up push-up style while playing on his tummy and pushing buttons that make music. I am sure all of the grandparents will be happy to know that we got the green light to try baby cereal and only baby cereal. (This means YOU Grammy Amanda and Papaw!)
We had to get out some more toys for Jackson to play with too because he was getting bored with the same old cubes and blocks. He has a key ring with plastic keys that he just adores. I sense a little foreshadowing as it seems like it won't be too long before he is asking to drive.
The big 4-month-old checkup was met with tears but not as many as the 2-month-old checkup. Little man only cried for a moment after his shots, prompting this tweet from daddy:
He really is growing like a weed at 14 lbs, 13 oz and 25 5/8 inches long. I'm terrified to miss anything since it seems like he changes so fast.
Right now I am just enjoying every snuggle, every coo, every laugh and every moment...

Dear Daddy
Dear Daddy,
We have so much fun together; I love my constant friend. Don't get me wrong, mommy is great-and-all but she doesn't play the same way you do. I mean she is all business, all of the time. (Change my diapey, gotta eat a bottle right on time, have to take a nap even if I don't want too!)
Thank you for letting me tug on the caterpillars that like to sleep on your chin. They tickle my neck and belly and every once in a while I like to get them back for making me laugh so hard. I literally pee-pee when they decide to attack me.
I love it when you grab my arms and legs and make those funny noses while waving them around. Even though I have no idea what a "chicken" is I love when you call me chicken little because your voice sounds all special and different. I always know you are talking to me and that is why I move around to find you.
I can't wait until mommy lets me get up and go. I want to learn how to throw that ball around with you (both of them the funny brown one that has to do with piggies and the big white one that has to do with socks!) I also want to sit in the front of the truck with you, that carseat is for the birds!
So, please don't be sad when I cry for mommy. I just like making her do all the work so play-time can be just the two of us.
Love, Jackson

Like Father, Like Son
The first comment people have when seeing Jackson for the first time is how much he looks like his daddy. I was simply the incubator, the catalyst. It is sad but true. Secretly, I would like to claim every fiber of the little man's being. Even though I act annoyed when people say that, I really don't mind.
Come on, I obviously think my hubby is attractive and Jackson is just so cute I could squish his wittle head. But. In the back of my mind, a nagging high-pitched alarm is always ringing. Since the little man looks so much like his daddy does that mean he will act likes his mommy? Lord help us all.
Sincerely though, I hope Jackson inherits a lot more from Kris than his cutie-patootie face because let's face it, he is without a doubt, the better person in our relationship.
Kris is calm and laid back. We are pretty much polar opposites: I am high strung and loud and he is fine saying nothing at all. His demeur is similiar to my grandpa's and dad's. Basically, they don't say a whole lot so when they do speak up you better listen because you know it is important.
Kris always has a plan. I tend to be erratic, I guess that comes along with the outspoken personality. I love being a free spirit and just "getting up and going" but that mantra has gotten me into trouble more than once. Kris has a responsible game plan for several possible outcomes.
Kris has a big heart. I hold grudges and tend to see the glass-half empty. Kris always sees the good in people and he is friendly to everyone we meet.
Kris is just plain, after-school-special, good. At least Jackson has a good role model in one of us.

Still Kicking!
I would be very surprised if anyone is still reading around here. I haven't shared my adventures as Life As Wife since we took the big move to Arkansas.
The adventures have been happening though and little man has been experiencing many firsts.
We are taking full advantage of the Arkansas' outdoors and the summer weather. Jackson has experienced the lake, boating and swimming in his brand new kiddie pool. As long as the water is not too cold, he really seems to like it. Thanks to my mother-in-law, we even got season passes to the city pool.

We have entered the season where swimming suits and damp towels dangle from the porch, drying in the evening sun. Little man's toes are always wrinkly and his newly discovered giggle and laughs fill the air as he kicks and splashes around.
Life is pretty perfect.
